The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches. Born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies… and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not… and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives.”

positive lady characters meme | Martha Jones + powerful/feminist moment

I was 900% prepared for her to flip the bird for science in this scene like oh here’s the bones of the finger that I use to say ‘fuck you’

hey remember when we used to have companions who were actualized individuals and not just puzzles to be solved

Why does every positive RTD post have to be turned into an anti-moffat post? How long will it take to understand that the mystery around companions didn’t make them lesser individuals?

We know more about Amy Pond than we do about any other companion - we saw snippets of life from when she was seven up until she was in her thirties! And Amy wasn’t a mystery; the crack was. Is it wrong for a show to introduce characters with a plot arc rather than accidental meeting? It takes nothing away from Amy’s character at all. And the people who complain that she’s anti-feminist for wearing skirts really need to rewatch her episodes. “I’m easily worth two men.” - Anyone remember it?

River Song seems like the biggest puzzle companion to me but that’s okay. This is a show about a time traveling alien, it makes sense that every now and then he’d find people that aren’t straight forward. She still has personality, back story, well formed relationships - good and bad - with other characters and layers and layers of character development and complexities. Easily an actualised individual.

Clara is introduced as a mystery but the resolution to series 7 was that she was just a normal girl who did something extraordinary. I don’t know how many times people will have to say that for it to stop being an issue. Even before her mystery is solved, we still know so much about her life and character. We even see her being raised in her second official episode! And the Doctor didn’t invite her to travel with him because he wanted to find out who she was - he invited Victorian Clara before he even discovered she was Souffle Girl. I think if she existed just for the mystery than either A) we wouldn’t know how she was impossible yet or B) she wouldn’t be sticking around for series 8.

STOP BELITTLING WELL ROUNDED AND DEVELOPED PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU PREFER STORY ARCS TO BE SEPARATE FROM THE ACTUAL CHARACTERS
